It is the foundation of The Memorial Experience.Summary:Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.Responsibilities:Passes instruments to physician during surgery.Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.Assists in decontamination, preparation and sterilization of instruments in sterile processing.Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.Assists nurse with patient care.Competencies:ACCOUNTABILITY, CLINICAL POLICIES AND STANDARDS, CUSTOMER SERVICE, EQUIPMENT STERILIZATION, PATIENT AND FAMILY CENTERED CARE, PATIENT SAFETY - NURSING, RESPONDING TO CHANGE, STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOREducation and Certification Requirements:Accredited Program: Surgical Technologist (Required)BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE), BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)Additional Job Information:Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
